Helping your local animal shelter, like Salem Animal Rescue League, is easy. While we’re always open to monetary donations, there are plenty of free and low-cost things you can do to help support our mission to help cats and dogs. Want to help? Here’s how:
1: Like, comment on, and share social media posts
When you see one of our posts in your Facebook or Instagram feed, it’s free and helps us so much when you like, comment, and share our social media posts. It’s important to do all three, but even just one thing will help us! When you do these things, you help our posts get seen by other people, sometimes resulting in more adoptions or even donations. We appreciate every like, comment, and share you can give us!
2: Use WoofTrax when taking your dog for a walk
You can use the WoofTrax app when taking your animals for a walk. It’s easy - just download the app on Android or iPhone, set up your account and your charity of choice, and then start a walking route while out with your furry friend. Keep your phone on and in your pocket until the end of your route, and then click “end” when you’re done. The shelter will receive a check in the mail after so many miles have been walked on their behalf.
3: Make in-kind physical donations
Do you have gently used blankets or towels you’re looking to get rid of? Is your office or group of friends looking for a way to give back? Your donation of in-kind items, particularly those from the Wish List on our website, can help offset expenses for items we use on a daily basis. We go through a lot of supplies throughout the year, so we appreciate any donations to help reduce those costs!
4: Sign up for Salem Animal Rescue League emails
Our monthly e-newsletters will keep you informed of everything we have going on at SARL. In addition to our own fundraising events, we often partner with local businesses and organizations who support us, including dine to donate events, music bingo, yappy hour, car washes, etc. – where a portion of event proceeds benefit SARL. We do this routinely! Sign up to receive our emails and be notified whenever we’re promoting an event or community partnership like this!
5: Volunteer your time
Salem Animal Rescue League is often looking for volunteers in all areas, including animal care, admin, and events. All it costs you is your time, and it makes a big difference ! Consider sending in a volunteer application today and telling us what you’re good at. We’d love to hear from you!
